The Digg of the web design community – CSS galleries
It’s a well known fact that when sites get Digg’ed (Dugg?) and make it to the front page they get a huge upsurge in traffic. While I wasn’t fortunate enough to have that happen to me, I did experience what I consider to be analogous in the web design community – being featured on some galleries.
I was pleasantly surprised by the number of visitors that visited the site – a large multiple of what I usually have. This is how my visitor count changed, courtesy of Mint:

Some of the sites where I was featured:
- Best Web Gallery
- CSS Remix
- CSS Mania
- CSS Collection
It was a huge honor to be featured among some of the best designers on the web today and I appreciate the recognition.

Haha… love the screenshot, a great representation of the after “effect” of these gallery sites. Good job on the site!

First, great site. Nicely designed and communicated well.
Second, as a fellow web developer and as someone obsessed with analytics and web marketing, I have found these bursts in site traffic to be almost useless. I say that because many times the people trolling these design galleries are designers and developers (like me). This is traffic that likely won’t produce any business. Is it good for something, sure…brand/name recognition. Possibly a referral.
Just my two cents.

Yeah, I received a lot of traffic whenever I did a fresh new design. A great way to earn a lot of traffic, especially if you have a good design. It just travels through the rest of the design galleries, and it grows into more traffic.
